Peter Glenville Gala Celebration

On the occasion of the centenary of Peter Glenville’s birth, a gala celebration is being held in his honor. Please join us.


1 November:

Screening of the 1967 film release THE COMEDIANS, starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Alec Guinness, James Earl Jones and Lillian Gish to be held at the Institute of Contemporary Arts – Nash House, The Mall, SW1. Introduction by James Earl Jones.
Time: 6:00pm (subject to change), Open to the public.

2 November:

One-day symposium and Gala Celebration: ‘Peter Glenville, the life and legacy of the great director’ held at University of Notre Dame, Suffolk Street SE1.
Admission by invitation only.

Screening of Academy Award nominated BECKET starring Richard Burton, Peter O’Toole and John Gielgud to be held at the National Film Theatre at the British Film Institute, South Bank. This is the first public screening in England of the newly restored Peter Glenville classic from 1964. Introduction by Becket film editor, Anne Coates.
Time: 8:30pm, Open to the public.

3 November:

Screening of SUMMER AND SMOKE starring Laurence Harvey and Lillian Gish at the National Film Theatre at the British Film Institute, South Bank. Introduction and question & answer session with Rita Moreno.

Peter Glenville Photo and Memorabilia Exhibition at The Old Vic Theatre, where Peter began his directing career.
